Bratanov, Merlot-Syrah 2018

Bratanov Family Winery was (re)created in 2010 after a 50 year hiatus. It's the result of the hard-work and dedication of a father and his sons who embarked on a mission to restore their family's heritage. The vineyards are located on the sunny South Sakar Hills, regarded as one of the best terroirs in Bulgaria. By focusing on craft, limited batches and minimal intervention, they are able to expertly control the whole winemaking process from the grape to the bottle. Made from a blend of 60% Merlot (fermented in stainless-steel) and 40% Syrah (aged for three years in barrel), this wine is a gorgeously plush, spicy, fruit-driven red. Notes of red plum, black cherry, cinnamon and cardamon moves to a rich, full bodied palate with further notes of leather, blackcurrant and tobacco. A great wine to pair with mature cheeses or grilled, meaty dishes.
